Memorial Day Report 5/22/2020

Fishing has become the new normal for most people with many reports from Portsmouth New Hampshire to Freeport Maine. slot size Stripers (28-35 inch) are being caught with a few variations of lures. Trolling tube and worm slow slow slow on the change of tides is one option. If you are surf casting, schoolies can be caught in the Marsh , on the Banks or the rivers along the eel grass with some poppers or Lonely Angler Zipsters, or try the Skid stick poppers. Sea worms and Blood worms fishing on the bottom has been quite successful for people in Freeport, Saco and Pine Point. Clams as well as chunking mackeral or Herring is another option.. You will start to compete with the large abundance of blue back herring and Alewives coming up to spawn. Catch an alwive on a smaller hook sabiki rig. Live line or chunk off the bottom. Remember there is a Law in Maine preventing you to catch river herring and Alewives Thursdays 6am-Sunday 6am.
