Diamond Pass Outfitter Striper Report 07/19/2023

The fishing is starting to improve with the better weather we have been having, allowing the water to clean up a bit. Fishing in the river remains consistent if you have live bait, trolling the tube and worm has been best, with fishing chunk mackerel or pogies a close second. The best fishing has been off the beaches and islands. Live mackerel, or eels for your live baits of choice. Large metal lip swimmers and soft plastics have been best to keep a large profile in the dirty water. Topwater has been effective in the early mornings and evenings. There are also still fish to be found on the flats. Crab and shrimp

Flies have been best, but a standard clouser is always a good choice. If you’re using spinning tackle in the skinny water, weightless soft plastics like and Albi Snax or Gravity Tackle in pearl or olive. A small bucktail jig dragged along the bottom will also be a good crab imitator. The extended forecast looks good and should bring some consistent fishing.
